For this class I am hoping to learn how to better utilize technology to help my students. I want for technology to become a tool to be used when needed but not a central part of how I teach. Technology is an increasingly large part of the classroom and though I feel knowledgeable about technology, I do not want it to overshadow my teaching or my students learning. I also hope to gain tools I have not yet heard of to increase my knowledge within the sphere of classroom technology.
I have used apps and pdf file viewing inside the classroom before such as using apps that slow down music as well as help mark spot in music that causes issues, I have used pdf viewers to view and showcase sheet music. As well as I have used photo editing software and poster making software to develop flyers and activities in the classroom in both a student and teacher perspective. As a student I have used tools such as Canvas and Teams to submit and work on assignments online as well as the standard Microsoft and google writing and presentation software.
to describe my Professional Learning Network (PLN) I would describe it as being made of several resources such as my past orchestra conductors and instructors as well as high school teachers and college professors. I also have tools such as media and libraries at my disposal, not even taking into account the school and professional resources. I try to learn about my instruments and the nuances of the music industry in many capacities. Among that are also personal interests such as anime, tv shows, comics, cosplaying and crafting to start. Most often to support my learning needs I will turn to my fellow musicians and instructors as well as resources such as YouTube.
It sounds like you'll be a great music teacher! I agree that technology in the classroom can be distracting for kids. It's good that you're thinking about striking a balance between using tech and letting it run rampant in your classroom.
